About The Event

As the snow settles in, and the semester winds up – the AGSEM pre-bargaining committee would like to know your experience as TA in Fall 2022 (and the past academic years).

What was the class size to TA ratio? Did you fill in your workload form? Do you think you worked overtime? How can the teaching and learning experience be improved? How is your relationship with your course supervisor?

Come and join the committee on December 5th, 2022, from 5 pm to 7pm ET at a virtual coffee hour and drop-in session. Since the TA collective agreement expires on July 31st, 2023, it is important for TAs to give feedback and share inputs and set priorities for the AGSEM bargaining team in 2023. As the examination season begins in December, we understand some members could be busy with TA work, so feel free to drop in at any time during the coffee hour.

Please RSVP to receive the Zoom link in advance of the drop-in meeting start time. Registration will be open until December 3 at 11:59pm ET.

The coffee hour will begin with the screening of the documentary on the TAA strike in UW-Madison in 1970. The TAA strike was the first teaching assistants’ strike in the United States, and has set a precedent for the academic labour movement in North America. Following a discussion on the TAA strike, the pre-bargaining committee will take inputs for negotiations and the pre-bargaining proposal to be presented in Winter 2023.

If you have any questions or queries in regard to the coffee hour, and pre-bargaining in general, please contact: bargainingchairTA@agsem-aeedem.ca
